YILPORT Puerto Bolivar carried out ‘the beach cleaning day’ as part of its environmental management plan. YILPORT Puerto Bolivar brought public institutions, environmental organizations, independent volunteers, maritime associations, people from the community from Jambeli and, the YILPORT team together for this activity.
The beach cleaning day took place on the island of Jambeli and, approximately 300 meters of beach between the Punta Faro pier and the old lighthouse on the island of Jambeli were cleaned.
During the day, approximately 150 bags with 2,100 pounds (952.54 kg) of waste (tires, ropes, plastics, foams, electrical appliances, among others) were removed from the beach and taken to a suitable waste deposit.
