YILPORT Container terminal and port operators

Evergreen and Borchard Lines choose YILPORT for their Far East and Europe services!

January 31st marked the arrival of the first Evergreen Line vessel call at Yilport Gebze with much of the cargo bound for Asian Ports. The new service will call Yilport, Piraeus, Malta, and then back to Yilport in Turkey.   Expectations are high as this vessel calls two of the major transshipment hubs in the Mediterranean region and provides Yilport with Far East and Middle East connections.   According to Sean Pierce, CEO of YILPORT Holding, ‘The good news does not stop with Evergreen; we also have an agreement with Borchard Lines who will commence with vessel calls to Yilport Gebze in February.  This is the first of what we hope will be many more Lines that choose to shift to our port form Haydarpasa terminal in Istanbul.’ Both shipping lines chose Yilport not only due to its enviable location, but also due to the ‘one-stop-shopping’ philosophy. ‘Evergreen and Borchard will most definitely be able to take advantage of Yilport’s ability to provide trucking, CFS, empty pools, the E5 Logistics center, direct transfer from bulk vessels to containers, bonded warehouses, covered transfer areas, and much more. This all comes with our vessel productivity that on average is greater than 30 moves per hour, per crane and a quick turnaround at the berth.’ Yilport Gebze has increased its overall capacity in 2013 through the acquisition of additional land and warehouse facilities.   Thus, there is additional capacity for more customers to make Yilport their preferred terminal serving Turkey’s biggest consumer and industrial markets.

ETI Logistics will start operations  in Gebze and Gemlik in April of 2013

The company has long been known for the transport of YILDIRIM containers and materials in Eastern Turkey and is now branching out into other logistics services which include trucking, mining material transport & stuffing, warehousing, and more.   Eti Logistics will be completely integrated with YILPORT terminals and this is particularly good news for those customers now using the YILPORT E5 Terminal in Gebze.   Phase 1 of the E5 Terminal development is complete and the facility now offers services for full and empty containers which include storage, repair, refrigeration PTI, storage and stuffing of mining products. New equipment  and technology has been deployed and the facility is able to integrate with its customers to provide EDI reporting.  According to YILPORT Holding CEO, Sean Pierce, ‘the introduction of Eti Logistics provides new options for the customers in the region and, because of the company’s tight integration with the ports, provides highly competitive rates and considerable value.’  Further, ‘customers are requesting a comprehensive solution for industry; meaning they want a port and logistics provider that is capable of providing empty pools, transport of full and empty containers, and all of the CFS, transfer and storage operations in one go.  With YILPORT we now have that in both Gebze and Gemlik.”

Yilport invests in safety and caters to the future: new tug for Gemport pilotage and tug services!
Gemport is extending service capacity and quality with the addition of a new tug! The tug is designed for larger vessel sizes and higher maneuver safety criteria. Gemport provides pilotage and towage services to all foreign flag vessels over 500 GT and Turkish flag vessels over 1000 GT, Gemport’s tug capacity is reaching 180 tons bollard pull.
Gemport’s study ‘Project for the Enhancement of Safety Culture in Gemport Pilotage and Towage Services Organizations’ was conducted together with the Maritime Faculty of Dokuz Eylul University. The study aims to bring a standard for pilot maneuvers and to strengthen safety management. The proactive strategy on defining manvoeuvre criteria is carried out through simulator aided pilot training with real-conditioned simulations in terminal areas and docks or new projects.

In 2012, within the service area covering all ports in Gemlik Gulf and Mudanya, Gemport fleet served 3.194 vessels with a combined 46.254.621 gross tonnage. The 2012 service and customer satisfaction survey carried out for the pilotage and towage service showed a high satisfaction rate. Yilport is proud to welcome the new tug within its enhanced safety culture.
