Turkish Delegation Visits YILPORT Liscont and Port of Lisbon for Study on EU Port Operations
YILPORT Liscont proudly hosted a Turkish delegation for an insightful study visit to Portugal, focusing on EU port operations and best practices.
The delegation was welcomed by Mr. Bruno Vale, General Manager of YILPORT Liscont, who presented the terminal's capacities, operations, management, and its significant role in the Portuguese economy.
Mr. Carlos Alberto do Maio Correia, Chairman of the Port of Lisbon Authority, was also in attendance to provide the delegation with an extensive overview of the Lisbon Port.
Throughout the visit, the delegation learned about key aspects of YILPORT Liscont and Port of Lisbon, including:
- The port's advanced automation and digitalization systems that are crucial for efficient freight information processing and management
- Applicable national and EU regulations, highlighting the port's role in promoting combined/intermodal transport
- Integration of multiple transport modes at the port
- Details of multimodal terminals, infrastructure, and annual freight turnover
- Organization of terminal concessions and relevant regulations
- Management models and strategies employed at the port
The Turkish delegation also had a chance to engage with the Ministry of Infrastructure and Housing/DGRM, the European Maritime Safety Agency (EMSA), and the Institute for Mobility and Transport (IMT)/Infraestruturas de Portugal (IP).
Part of the ATLAS Project (Analysis of the Transport Legislation of Türkiye in the Process of Harmonisation with the EU Acquis), this initiative aims to support Türkiye's economic and social development and facilitate EU integration and practices through a competitive and sustainable transportation system.
The Project involves a comprehensive review of Turkish transport legislation across rail, road, maritime, and aviation sectors with a primary emphasis on capacity building.
