Two Mobile Harbor Cranes Ordered by YILPORT Arrived at Puerto Quetzal

As committed in the agreement signed with Quetzal Port Authority (EPQ), OLG (joint venture of YILPORT Holding and Panamanian operator FBM) continues its investments with two state-of-the-art MHCs arrived at the terminal on August 26, 2019. With these two cranes, OLG will be operating in Puerto Quetzal with four mobile harbor cranes in total to increase effectivity and productivity in vessel operations.

Two mobile harbor cranes ordered from Gottwald had set sail from Westdore, Holland on July 31, 2019 and arrived at the port on August 26, 2019. Both cranes will be operational in addition to two existing Liebherr LHM 600 MHCs after necessary tests and operator training. These new Gottwald HMK 8410 Mobile Harbor Cranes have 58 m working radius, 100 T safe working load, and 60 m boom length. They are capable of serving vessels up to 19 container rows wide.

Puerto Quetzal is located 102 km from Guatemala City. It is the first multi-purpose Guatemalan port on the Pacific Ocean, offering container and break bulk services. Until the arrival of these two new cranes, the terminal was operating with two Liebherr Mobile Harbor Cranes LHM600 ordered by YILPORT Holding and delivered to Puerto Quetzal in 2018. Puerto Quetzal will eye more cargo on the Pacific Coast and increase its volume by enhancing the current service level with the arrival of these two new Gottwald HMK 8410 cranes.
